Dixie Grupe, DESE Social Studies Director, and Emily Wegner, Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator for Raytown, MO Schools presented at the 2016 Annual MOCHE Conference.

History class is a perfect arena for compelling learning activities.  Argumentation, document and photo analysis, provocative discussions, exploration of divergent points of view, can all be used to bring state standards and required content to life.  This session will help you reflect on your current classroom practices and consider ways to create more engaging scenarios.  Become acquainted with the new state social studies standards and how to make them meaningful and engaging.
